Traversing a unique career path starting as an Army Officer about two decades back, moving on to leading HR for a large listed Manufacturing Company and then pivoting into a business role at a HR Technology startup which became a Unicorn in 2022, Capt. Dr. Chinnababu Sunkavalli is a renowned Robotic Surgical Oncologist (Cancer Surgeon) in Hyderabad.
He has extensive surgical experience of over 20 years. At present, he is a Clinical Director - Surgical Oncology Senior Consultant Robotic Surgical Oncologist, YASHODA Hospitals Hitech City, Hyderabad. He graduated from the prestigious JJM Medical College, Davangere and continued to pursue post-graduation studies in General Surgery at Government Medical College, Surat in the year 2001. Later he did Super Specialty training (Mch) in Surgical oncology at one of the largest cancer Institutes of the country Gujarat Cancer Research Institute, Ahmadabad (All India 2nd Rank).
His clinical expertise can be exemplified by some of his achievements like being the first qualified and trained robotic surgeon of the AP and delivering the highest standards of patient care as the best Robotic Surgical Oncologist in Hyderabad. He has 44 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is a sought-after reviewer for various national and international journals such as the Indian Journal of surgery, Australian Asian Journal of Cancer. His acumen was recognized by international bodies and was honored with a fellowship at Long Beach Cancer center in 2009. He was the winner of many awards and to name a few, a university topper, and a gold medalist during his masters in surgery and super specialization in Surgical Oncology. He has 5 Guinness World Records and reached more than 5 million people through cancer awareness and screening through Grace cancer foundation.
He is the pioneer of rural cancer screening in India. He is crusader against cancer and works relentlessly in reaching the unreached. He is also considered to be a change agent encouraging the younger generation to embrace empathy driven service. He has a deep passion for clinical research and works on technology driven drug discovery in oncology.
