SIBM Hyderabad Case Development Centre (SHCDC) – Symbiosis
Institute of Business Management, Hyderabad uses cases in its courses for
postgraduate management students with varied backgrounds and executive
participants in Management Development Programs. Cases are an effective
tool to learn and apply theoretical concepts to practice. It prepares the
student to navigate business challenges by engaging them in real-world
scenarios. At the same time, it sharpens the analytical skills and enhances
the experience of learners with regard to the business problems and its
solutions in a classroom setting.
SHCDC will strengthen industry-academia collaboration and provide solutions
to industry partners to overcome challenges/solve problems. Case studies
are written to offer slices of business life, focusing on actual problems and
decisions companies face. The Centre encourages writing of cases in the
following areas:

Objectives of SHCDC –
•To develop management cases from various business functional area,
including cross disciplinary issues.
•To inculcate the case based teaching pedagogy ecosystem
•To create an opportunity to convert business challenges into writing
business cases and publishing it.
•To conduct workshops/FDPs for external and internal participants.
•To collaborate with industry for joint case development.
•To build a repository of cases for use of educators for teaching and
training needs.
Proposed Events of SHCDC -
Workshop/FDP: Workshops and FDPs will be conducted to train all the
interested individuals in case research and writing.
Case Conference: It will focus to help case authors write cases effectively
and develop skills to create a more enriching environment in the classroom
for their students.
Case Competition-
Associating with patrons from Indian Companies/
Government/ Public sector organizations to analyze their problems
situations, inviting top B-school students in the competition. Internal case
writing competition to be organized, led by students on the basis of summer
internships.
