The HR specialization student’s of bath 2017-19 went on a field tour as part of the module Cross Cultural Management and visited various heritage sites in and around Hyderabad City. The tour included a visit to the famous Marble Temple Birla Mandir, Chow Mahal Palace, Charminar, Sala Jung Museum and Golconda fort.
As it was a guided tour, the students gained a lot of information about the places included in the visit. The architecture and the socio cultural stories behind heritage sites enlightened the students. Visit to the Charminar the iconic structure of Hyderabad was a great experience. The visit to Salarjung Museum was a great learning opportunity. The descriptive notes in each gallery presented one with information on the riches that lay inside and the chronological order of arrangement helped the students to gain the knowledge about the artefacts and the socio cultural and economic perspectives of the time and people when they were crafted.
The mesmerizing bronze work from the Pallava, Chola, Gupta dynasties, some of which date back to the second century AD and demonstrate the exquisite workmanship of sculptors and carvers from another era. A Mukhalinga from Kaushambi, a standing figure of Buddha from Nelakondapally, Jain sculptures in white marble with Rajasthani artisanship and a figure of Vishnu from the Kakatiya period only show the polytheism and diversity of this great land.
The Golconda Fort tour though tiresome was a fun filled experience. The Most Famous Bonalu festival which is integral to the rich Telangana State was also underway at the Fort.
The trip indeed was indeed a great learning and was fruitful.
