Shakti – Women Development and Social Responsibility Cell of SIBM Hyderabad, in collaboration with Ikshana: The Institutional Social Responsibility Club of SCMS, Hyderabad, successfully organized a Community Health Camp on 1st March 2026 at Gramam, Edulapally, Nandigama Mandal, RR District. The initiative was conducted in association with Srikara Hospital and Lions Club East Hyderabad with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare and improving access to essential medical facilities in rural areas.

The camp was supported by a dedicated team of 14 student volunteers from Shakti and Ikshana, who worked collectively to ensure the smooth planning and execution of the event. On the same day of the camp, both teams actively carried out a door-to-door awareness initiative in the two nearby villages. The volunteers personally visited households in the morning hours, informed residents about the free medical services being offered, explained the importance of regular health check-ups, and encouraged them to attend the camp. This immediate, on-ground outreach played a crucial role in mobilizing the community and significantly contributed to the strong participation of beneficiaries.

The event commenced with an address by Ms. Vijay Lakshmi, who highlighted the importance of strengthening medical facilities in villages and emphasized the need for early diagnosis and preventive healthcare practices. The health camp benefited 160 individuals from two villages, reflecting the wide reach and impact of the initiative. A detailed observation of the screenings provided important insights into the health conditions prevalent in the community. Several individuals were identified with irregular blood pressure levels, while a noticeable number showed elevated blood sugar readings, indicating potential risks of hypertension and diabetes. ECG assessments conducted for elderly participants helped in the preliminary identification of possible cardiac concerns. BMI evaluations revealed cases of both undernutrition and overweight conditions, highlighting the need for improved nutritional awareness and lifestyle management.

The eye check-up segment identified multiple beneficiaries with vision difficulties, and two individuals were provided spectacles sponsored by a supporting organization, ensuring immediate corrective assistance. Blood sample collections and general consultations further supported early detection of health concerns and provided medical guidance for follow-up care where required.

To ensure the comfort of all attendees, refreshments such as bananas, glucose packets (SPOs), biscuits, and Frooti were distributed. These arrangements were especially beneficial for elderly participants and those undergoing blood tests, helping them remain comfortable and energized throughout the process.
