The outcome of the Guest lecture was to gain a thorough understanding of essential employment regulations and benefits, enabling them to apply this knowledge effectively in practical work settings.

The Human Resources Club, Humanalaya, at SIBM-H conducted a Guest Lecture on the topic “Industrial Relations and Employment Law” for the human resource students of MBA Batch 2023-25 on 22nd January 2024. The guest lecturer for the session was Dr. Poulomi Ghosh, Chief L&D consultant DEI and POSH advocate. Dr. Ghosh delved into the fascinating world of Industrial Relations and Employment Law offering valuable insights applicable to our HR aspirations.

The guest lecture began with an in-depth examination of three essential topics regarding employment policies in India. Mam stressed the significance of comprehending these subjects to cultivate a harmonious work environment beneficial for both employers and employees.

In the subsequent segment, attention was drawn towards the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) scheme, recognized as a foundation of social security for employees in India. A comprehensive overview was delivered, outlining EPF eligibility criteria, contribution rates, and the complexities involved in benefit calculations. Utilizing interactive sessions and visual aids, intricate concepts such as EPF interest rates and withdrawal procedures were clarified, empowering participants to make informed decisions regarding their financial planning and retirement savings. Additionally, recent reforms and digital initiatives aimed at enhancing the accessibility and transparency of the EPF scheme were discussed, further enhancing the dialogue on this vital aspect of employee welfare.

The lecture explored the details of maternity benefits in India, examining the legal framework and recent amendments. Students gained insights into eligibility criteria, duration of maternity leave, and employer responsibilities. Practical examples enhanced understanding of the policy's impact on women in the workforce. Additionally, the importance of fostering a supportive environment for expectant mothers was emphasized, promoting gender equality in the workplace.

In summary, the seminar on employment laws and regulations was a valuable learning opportunity. It provided us with both theoretical understanding leaving us with a distinct comprehension of the crucial role HR plays in fostering favourable organizational transformations. The blend of expert perspectives, interactive evaluations, and group exercises offered a holistic and engaging educational session.
