Speaker: Mr. Debashish Ghosh - HR thought leader and Executive Coach

Objective: To provide students with authentic industry perspectives on the role and importance of HR Analytics, highlighting how data-driven tools such as the Balanced Scorecard and HR Scorecard are applied in real organizational settings, thereby enabling them to appreciate the strategic value of analytics in enhancing workforce performance and supporting informed business decisions.

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Hyderabad hosted an expert session on “HR Analytics – Driving Data-Driven Talent Decisions” for the MBA Batch of 2024–26. The session was delivered by Mr. Debashish Ghosh, a seasoned HR leader with deep expertise in leveraging analytics to enhance workforce strategy and business outcomes.

Mr. Ghosh opened the discussion by highlighting the growing significance of HR Analytics in shaping strategic organizational decisions. He explained how HR is evolving from an operational support function to a data-driven, evidence-based business partner, using analytics to predict, measure, and optimize workforce performance.

  • Descriptive Analytics – understanding historical workforce trends and patterns.
  • Diagnostic Analytics – identifying root causes of HR challenges through data.
  • Predictive Analytics – forecasting talent outcomes such as attrition risks or performance potential.
  • Prescriptive Analytics – recommending actionable strategies to achieve optimal workforce results.

Mr. Ghosh demonstrated how metrics such as hiring cost, time-to-fill, employee productivity scores, training ROI, and turnover ratios can be combined with advanced analytics to guide decision-making. He further explained how data visualization, dashboards, and scorecards help HR teams communicate insights effectively to senior leadership.

Through industry case studies, Mr. Ghosh illustrated how organizations are using analytics to customize employee experiences, enhance talent retention, and align HR strategy with business goals.
