Event Name: Research Week
Objective: The objective of Research Week is to promote research culture, develop a researcher’s mind, to strengthen the research capacity and environment among the students, which will, in turn, help them in the progress of their research papers.
Outcome: Research Week successfully instilled a research-driven mindset among students, enhancing their capacity to think critically and conduct thorough research.

CoRe, Centre of Research of SIBM Hyderabad, conducted Research Week from 24th to 27th July 2023 for the MBA Batches 2022-24 and 2023-25. The events which were conducted in Research Week were Guest Lecture, Journal Article Review, and Research Workshops.
24th July 2023: Guest Lecture by Dr. Kottala Sri Yogi Neelam Alekhya was the host of the Guest lecture, held at the Convention Hall, spanning a duration of 90 minutes, 3.10 PM – 4.40 PM.

The guest lecture was taken up by Dr. Sri Yogi on the topic of Research Methodology. The guest lecture emphasized the growing prevalence and importance of data mining in organizations. Different types of research studies were discussed, including reporting, which involves transparently presenting research findings for evaluation and replication. He also explained that descriptive research aims to understand and document the characteristics of a phenomenon without manipulating variables, while explanatory research seeks to identify causal relationships and underlying mechanisms.

He further emphasized how Predictive research utilizes historical data to forecast future events, aiding decision-making in fields like finance and marketing. Business and management researchers focus on various aspects of organizations, using data-driven approaches to improve performance. Moreover, he discussed how to refine research topics through a hierarchy of concepts, starting broadly and narrowing down to specific research questions, to ensure systematic investigation and knowledge advancement. Later, a Q & A session was held where students asked their doubts. The event ended with the Deputy Head of CoRe delivering the vote of thanks.

25th July 2023: Journal Article Review (JAR by Team CoRe)
Neelam Alekhya was the host of the Guest Journal Article Review, held at Lecture Theatre, spanning a
duration of 60 minutes, from 5.30 PM – 6.30 PM for MBA 2023-25. The objective was to familiarize the
students with practical knowledge of research paper structure, components, and citation conventions
used in reputable databases like Scopus and Web of Science.
Two research papers were reviewed and discussed during the event by Saurav Sinha & Ritanshi Mahi.

Title of the Paper: "Marketing in Emerging Markets: A Review, Theoretical Synthesis, and Extension"
Description: Mr. Saurav Sinha presented a theoretical framework paper and explained the components and structure of such papers. He discussed the approach researchers take while writing theoretical framework papers and focused on the model-building process, particularly with respect to the paper under review.

Presenter: Miss Ritanshi Mahi, MBA 2nd Year
Title of the paper: Effectiveness of Nostalgia in Advertising: A Comparative Study Of Customers Of
Different Genders And Age
Description: Miss Ritanshi Mahi presented a paper on the effectiveness of nostalgia in advertising,
detailing the research methodology and emphasizing the relevance of nostalgia marketing in
contemporary society, as stated by the paper's author.

The event fostered a sense of curiosity and enthusiasm towards research and academic writing, encouraging them to actively participate in similar events and possibly pursue their own research endeavours in the future.
26th July & 27th 2023: Research Workshop by Dr. KDV Prasad
Ritanshi Mahi was the host for Research Workshops for both days, held at the Convention Hall,
spanning a duration of 90 minutes, from 9.30 AM – 11 AM on both days.

The workshops were conducted for MBA Batches 2022-24 & 2022-25, and focused on essential topics such as Levels of Measurement, Methods of Data Collection, Basic Analysis of AMOS and SPSS, Introduction to Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), and Model Fit Indices. These workshops were organized to equip students with valuable skills and knowledge related to data analysis and research methodologies.

The students gained valuable skills and knowledge, including understanding data measurement scales,
selecting appropriate data collection methods, and conducting basic data analysis using AMOS and
SPSS. The Introduction to SEM workshop introduced students to complex relationship analysis, while
the Model Fit Indices workshop taught them to validate research models effectively. The benefits of
these workshops included improved research capabilities, enhanced data-handling skills, and
increased confidence in data-driven decision-making. Overall, the workshops provided MBA students
with valuable tools to conduct meaningful research and analysis in their academic and professional
pursuits.
Later, a Q & A session was held where students asked their doubts. The event ended with the student
head delivering the vote of thanks.
